Our goal is to analyze the socio-cultural component of the text in thе "Ukrainian spelling", which entered into force from 22nd of May 2019 to study the tendencies of the semantic motivation of cultural values in the spelling text. An aspect of the historical linguistic tradition is important for spelling. But cultural values should be relevant and reflect the Ukrainian mentality. Panteleimon Kulish has paid attention to it. He made efforts to normalize the spelling system of the Ukrainian language in the middle of the 19th century. We are using the method of the linguistic description of forms of spelling codification, semantic structure analysis (of socio-cultural composition; elements of the statistical method of the study of the source base. In the course of the research, we have identified many cases that tell us about usage in Ukrainian spelling russisms, tracing paper, irrelevant historicisms and archaisms from the Soviet and Russian empires, to shape a mentality of Ukrainian people.
